Menorca - Ciutadella
Cas Consol Restaurante
This restaurant is situated at the port side of Plaza Born near to the Ayuntamiento and overlooking the lovely port. It was highly recommended by Trip Advisor so we had to give it a try. We were not disappointed, the food was excellent. We started with mussels in Cava and a Trout carpaccio with salad garnish, both of which were extremely good. For mains we tried the oven-baked Dorada stuffed with all sorts of good things! and a tasty lamb timbale with couscous, raisins and almonds. Once again these were phenomenal, and we had to have a dessert. |

Menorca - Ciutadella
La Guitarra Restaurante
A typically Menorcan restaurant deep in the old town. At lunchtime it's a hive of activity inside and out. You can choose a whole range of tapas including: carne con salsa; gambas in butter; meat croquetas; and huevos rotos(a plate of chips topped with fried eggs with chopped yolks, and Serrano ham on top) - very tasty. Outside is organised by an eccentric waiter who runs all around the place looking after the customers. The evening menus looked good, so worth visiting for dinner on next visit.

Menorca - Ciutadella
Moli Restaurante
This fascinating restaurant is a converted grain mill and the interior has the fabulous old stone arch supports for the roof. The food was of high standard and the wine was also excellent. |

Menorca - Ciutadella
Smoix Restaurante
This is another excellent restaurant in the old town of Ciutadella. The name is from the Menorcan for 'cat' but I'm not sure why it was originally called this! Not to matter, the food was really good and in a lovely garden setting in a beautiful courtyard through the entrance you can see in the image. |

Torrevieja
El Meson de la Costa
If you enjoy your food and don`t mind paying for quality, then pay a visit to El Meson de la Costa on calle Ramon y Cajal. At the entrance there is a superb display of the things to enjoy. A fantastic selection of fish, meat and starters is on offer. This restaurant is definitely one of the best in Torrevieja. Just make sure you know the cost of what you are tempted to eat! |

Torrevieja
Casa Acequion
This is the fabulous view of the marina from a table at Casa Acequion, a modest beachside restaurant which offers a full 3 course menu del dia including a drink for just 10 euros. It is a typical bustling Spanish eatery which cares about giving you great value for your money - and they achieve this in spades. They immediately give you a generous basket of fresh tasty bread and quickly bring your drinks. There is a wide choice of food in each course, well cooked. They even just left the bottle of red wine on the table and charged nothing extra for it. Coffees included also. |

Extra observation
When I inadvertantly gave the cashier 2x20 euro notes by mistake, he immediately shouted after me that I had paid them too much. Their tip took an increase!

Alicante - Old Town
al medina restaurante
One of the best eateries in this area is Al Medina in Plaza Santisima Faz. A really smart, efficient resto with great food and a friendly cosmopolitan staff. Ask for Nory the charming house manager from Algeria. He is really friendly and if you can manage a little French, he will take care of you like royalty. |

Benidorm
La Caya Aragonesa
Just down C.Major to Pl. de la Constitucio there is an alleyway on the left to one of the best tapas bars in the Costa Blanca, La Cava Aragonesa. This place is always full of Spaniards but be brave and use some of your Spanish. There are plenty of bar staff, so you are soon served. Choose two or three of the dishes displayed on the counters and don`t miss a glass of the cava on offer, it`s delicious. |

Benidorm
Marisqueria Cordoba
In the centre of the old town this gem of a fish restaurant shines brightly on a busy corner. They offer the whole range of fish, seafood and meat, so you are certainly spoiled for choice. Although this is an authentic Spanish restaurant, they are very welcoming to all diners whatever nationality. They also have an unbelievably good value Menu del Dia for only 10 euros. |

Benidorm
Casa Carmen
You can always recognise the typically Spanish restaurants by the number of locals who frequent the establishment. We walked past the Casa Carmen restaurant one lunch-time and it was teeming with enthusiastic diners. It was much quieter in the evening, but the food was excellent with a wonderful choice of Spanish cocina. If you prefer to eat Spanish then this un-pretentious restaurant is for you. Try the `pulpo` they were delicate and tasty. All the meat and fish dishes were excellent, but they also specialise in paellas. |

Benidorm
Cafetería Los Gemelos
I make no excuses for including this modest sea-front cafe amongst other rather more exclusive restaurants. This friendly cafe was just a short distance along the paseo maritimo from Les Dunes Suites where we stayed in 2012. It offers an excellent range of breakfasts, lunch and evening menus. You can enjoy a typically English breakfast for a few euros, or you can try other things more Spanish. It`s so nice to have real fresh orange juice! |

Denia
Tasca Eulalia
Enjoy a drink at an outdoor table of the many bars and restaurants. For authentic local cuisine try the excellent Tasca Eulalia restaurant and watch the world go by while eating tapas or valenciana speciality dishes accompanied by a nice wine. After postres have a small Muscatello as a digestif.

Nerja
Restaurant Merendero Ayo
One of the best paellas on the Costa del Sol has been served up for forty years at Ayo`s. Situated on the excellent Burriana beach, Ayo cooks huge paellas over wood barbecues all day long. The restaurant is always packed but you still seem to be able to find a table. On a hot day on the Sol, the thatched roof provides welcome shade as you enjoy your meal. Don`t miss this great experience! |

Mijas
Plaza de la constitucion
The El Mirlo Blanco
This modest restaurant surprisingly offers Basque cocina at very reasonable prices and has stunning panoramic views. |

Santander
Rhin restaurante
When it is time to eat, head for the Rhin restaurant which is near the casino and directly adjacent to the Primera Beach. It has an excellent menu of fish and meat with super wines and is well known for all round quality service. Enjoy a typical Spanish lunch in this large bustling restaurant with lovely views over the sea and coastline. |

Majorca - Cala d`Or
Remo restaurante
Situated in central Cala d`Or, the Remo is a typically friendly Spanish eatery. The proprietors run a professional restaurant with a good selection of well-prepared meals. We were treated like long lost family when we returned for a second evening! |

La Manga del Mar Menor
Restaurante Christina
.If you would like to experience a truly authentic Spanish lunchtime restaurante, then make your way to Restaurante Christina, at the Nuevo Puerto Bello Bloque, opposite the Nuevas Sirenas apartments. The place was absolutely buzzing with Spaniards, and it was easy to see why. The menu del dia included: gazpacho; revuelto con guisantes; magra; lomo de cerdo; melon (two massive slices); tarta; and coffee. Also included was the complimentary starter salad and wine or water. The bill for two was 16 euros!! Unbelievable value. |

The grand dame of tapas restaurants, Nou Manolin can be found on Calle Villegas. You can chose to mingle with the locals at the bar for mouthwatering tapas or join Alicante`s movers and shakers in the more formal dining room. |
