Sergio Garcia was born in 1980 in Castellon and has been coached by his father since the age of three. Following a successful junior career he turned pro in 1999 after recording the lowest amateur score in the Masters Tournament of that year. In the same year he came to the attention of the worldwide audience in a duel with Tiger Woods in the PGA Championship, which he eventually lost.
He has won 7 PGA Tour and 8 European Tour championships and last year in 2008 his win in the HSBC Champions took his earnings to $6.9 million, the highest of any golfer.
He is a close friend of Uruguayan footballer Diego Forlan, fellow golfer Colombian Camilo Villegas and Rafa Nadal
Severiano Ballesteros - Golf
Seve was born in 1957 and has been an icon of the game throughout his career. He burst onto the worldwide golf game aged 19 when he came second in The Open Championship. In the late 70s to 80s he won five masters including The Masters twice and The Open Championship three times. His contribution to the Ryder Cup team is legendary and characterised by his cavalier driving and great short game. Back injuries led retirement in 2007 but he is still hoping to play in next year`s 2010 Open Championship.
In October last year 2008 he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent surgery. After chemo he appeared in June 2009 and thanked everyone for their care and welfare and has now set up a foundation to help cancer sufferers and also to financially support young golfers.

The Real Madrid captain has scored over 190 goals in close to 500 games in 14 seasons in La Liga. He was awarded the Pichichi Trophy for his goal-scoring in 1999 (25 goals in 37 games) and 2001 (24 goals in 36 games). He is also the all-time top scorer of the Champions League and has won several European top awards. Raúl has scored 44 goals for Spain, surpassing the likes of Hierro, Butragueño, Di Stéfano and Santillana. In 2006 the Real Madrid captain was awarded the Royal Order`s Gold Medal for Sports Merit.
Fernando José Torres Sanz - Soccer
Torres was born in Madrid in 1984 and scored goals for fun as a youngster. His 55 goals in one season for a junior team brought him to the attention of Atletico Madrid, with whom he started his career. He played for the club from 2001 and scored 75 goals in 174 games before joining Liverpool in 2007 for a record fee. Since then he has been a prolific scorer in the Premiership and for his national team, clinching the final goal for Spain in their 1-0 victory over Germany in the UEFA Euro Final in 2008.

Miguel Angel Indurain Larraya - Cycling
Indurain was born in 1964 and began his career relatively late as a sixteen year old, but quickly progressed to professional aged 21 years. He is the only rider to win 5 consecutive victories in the Tour de France between 1991 and 1995. He also won the prestigious Italian championship, the Giro d`Italia in 1992 and 93. At six foot two inch he was not the typical cyclist physique, but his strength, massive lung size and low heart rate gave him the structure on which to build a world beater. He retired after winning the first time trial gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. He has been awarded a whole range of prizes in recognition of his contribution to his sport and was voted the most influential sportsman of his era. He now works on the Olympic committee and has his own foundation.
Jose Maria Olazabal - Golf
Olazabal was born in 1986 in Fuenterrabia, and came to prominence through the amateur ranks, winning many competitions including the British Amateur, Youths and Boys titles. He turned pro in 1986 winning twice, and nominated Rookie of the Year. From 1988 to 1993 he had a win every year, keeping in the top 10 money earners, and in 1994 won his first `major` at the US Masters. After a couple of seasons of injury and illness, his return game in the Dubai Desert Classic in 1997 saw him take a creditable 12th position. Around the same time he took a victory at the Spanish Tour Masters Open in Gran Canaria, and re-joined the top ten European money earners. He won the US Masters for a second time in 1999, and in the same year brought the Dunhill Cup to Spain for two consecutive years. In 2001 he won the French Open and in 2002 the Buick International in the USA. He is certainly one of the best European golfers of the modern era.

Carlos Sainz Cenamor - Rally driving
Carlos Sainz Cenamor was born in 1962 in Madrid. A phenomenal career started in his first year when he became Spanish Rally Champion in 1987, with Ford, repeating the feat in 1988. When he first joined Toyota he became World Rally Champion on two occasions in 1990 and 92, and was to achieve second place no less than four times in the rest of his career. He won the Constructors’ world championships with: Subaru; Toyota; and Citroen (3 times). Over his career he has driven for most of the major constructors and won an impressive number of titles throughout the world. He currently still holds the WRC records for the greatest number of starts, podium finishes and points. Known as El Matador, Carlos Sainz has even won the Dakar Rally in 2010, although it was actually held this year in Argentina.

Alonso was born in 1981 in Oviedo and is the youngest driver to have won the World F1 Championship twice. As most prodigies, he won several titles in karting as a youngster, culminating in the Junior World Cup in 1996 at age 15. In 2001 he was one of the youngest ever F1 drivers and soon came to prominence. In 2003 he joined Renault and gained his first win in Hungary. He kept on improving and eventually won the World Championship in both 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he just lost out in the final race. The 2010 season sees him driving for Ferrari in what will prove to be a fascinating championship between current holder Jensen Button and Lewis Hamilton and the return of Michael Schumacher.

Athletics - Fermin Cacho Ruiz
Cacho is definitely one of the best ever European 1500m runners. His first world class result was a silver in 1990 at the European Indoor Games in Glasgow when he was 21 years old. This was followed by another silver in Seville at the World Indoor Games in 1991. In 1992 at the Barcelona Olympics, his form had not been good enough for him to be seriously considered as a threat. However, the pace of the race was relatively slow, which played into the hands of a quick sprinter like Cacho. He pulled away from a world class field on the last lap to win Olympic gold. Over the subsequent period to 1998 he won a medal at a major championship every year except 1995 when he was injured. These included gold again at the Helsinki European Championships in 1994. He still holds the European record for the 1500m at 3:28:95 minutes.
